Done!

Project #1 is finished!  I got all of the granny squares crocheted together and it is soft, frilly, and lovely.  It is a nice lap blanket, but I do wish it was a tad bigger.  I think down the road I may add to it until it is about double in size.  That's 58 squares up there, so I am not going to pretend that that will happen any time soon.  So for now (and maybe forever) it is finished!  I love how the afternoon light filtered through the blanket in the photos.  Almost like one of those camera filters they used to use on cheesy TV shows and soap operas in the 70s and 80s.
The blanket is full of eyelash and other funky yarns that I used to be hot for.  It was begun almost 6 years ago as an effort to use up tidbits left over from other projects.  I did have to buy a couple more skeins here and there, but for the most part I stayed true to that mission.  I do have quite a bit of the black yarn left and I think a crocheted border would look nice.  But, I'll put that on hold.  It is nice as it sits right now.
Well, now it is on to the next partially finished project.  I will share about it soon...once I take some pictures and actually figure out what direction I want to go with it.

This was last nights dinner.
OK, from the picture I don't think it looks that great, beige never photographs well, but, my oh my...I thought it was tasty.  Chicken and Cauliflower braised in a lemony sauce...delish!  It is in the latest issue of Better Homes Gardens magazine which happened to arrive in my mailbox yesterday.  I had the ingredients on hand (most of them) and I gave it a whirl.  The kids liked it, except Elijah whined about the cauliflower and the spinach ( he still had to eat it).  Rubia couldn't shovel it into her mouth fast enough.  Although, I think it would be a miracle to have no whining at a meal, last night was pretty close.
It is a keeper recipe for sure.
