"Gasp" Snow?

So I had promised a long post this past weekend...didn't happen...obviously. I has fully intended too...honest I had.
I have no excuses other then the four of us (I do like to count the little bun in the oven now) spent the weekend bundled up inside. It has gotten cold again and we got snow yesterday! Say it with me ladies..."enough!" I'm like a little kid that wants to throw a tantrum, whining, kicking, and screaming that everyone else in the world is having a nice Spring and I-Want-One-Too! This is more then likely I completly false statement, but it ever so slightly makes me feel sort of better...well, maybe not really. One of my co-workers yesterday tried telling me that it was lovely to see the snow falling and I gasped. I could not be convinced that it was pretty, lovely, nice, fluffy, or cool no matter what they said. I have become a snow scrooge. But, ask me next December and I'm sure I'll be in love with the stuff again.
So this past weekend was spent reading books, playing with a brightly colored beach ball, peaking out windows, opening and closing curtains (I open and David comes along and closes), and eating. Elijah is 100% better and is making up for lost time. He played hard and wanted to eat constantly. He had lost some weight from his viral infection. Every time we turned around he was in the kitchen wanting more to eat.
I also did some sewing and knitting. It has been so long since I have had any desire to do anything crafty and I was so tickled to have not only worked on some things, but also to have completed a couple of things. I also did some reading and David was so sweet to take care of the Little Boy while I napped on Saturday and Sunday. Pregnant=Tired
If I can pull myself together I will try to get on tonight and post some pictures...I have lots to share.

Where we have been...

There has been one sick Little Boy at our house.
He is now on the mend.
One pregnant Mama trying to keep up and feeling a bit under the weather herself.
As well as one tired Daddy from traveling for work.
I will try to get a nice long post off this weekend.
But, for now...over and out.

Passionate Things

When I read Leslie's proposal over at her blog, My Happliy Ever After, I had to take a day or two to think and ponder about it. She asked us to share what we are passionate about. To be honest, at first my mind drew a complete blank. So I decided to take a step back and think about what the word passionate or passion means. So I looked it up in the Merrium-Webster Dictionary:

Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Late Latin passion-, passio suffering, being acted upon, from Latin pati to suffer — more at
13th century
1 often capitalized a: the sufferings of Christ between the night of the Last Supper and his death b: an oratorio based on a gospel narrative of the Passion

2 obsolete : suffering
3: the state or capacity of being acted on by external agents or forces
4 a (1): emotion (2)plural : the emotions as distinguished from reason b: intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction c: an outbreak of anger
5 a: ardent affection : love b: a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept c: sexual desire d: an object of desire or deep interest
— pas·sion·less
\-ləs\ adjective
passion, fervor, ardor, enthusiasm, zeal mean intense emotion compelling action. passion applies to an emotion that is deeply stirring or ungovernable . fervor implies a warm and steady emotion . ardor suggests warm and excited feeling likely to be fitful or short-lived . enthusiasm applies to lively or eager interest in or admiration for a proposal, cause, or activity . zeal implies energetic and unflagging pursuit of an aim or devotion to a cause .synonyms see in addition feeling

I think number 5b is what we most associate with the word passion or to be passionate. Isn't it interesting how the word Passion refers to Christs sufferring and death and how it is #1 on the list in the dictionary? What a wonderful coorilation to the word and it makes the meaning that much deeper.
So then I asked myself again, what am I passionate about? My husband, son, and still growing baby #2 are so important to me that I am passionate about them. I am passionate about taking care of them and making sure that I try to be the best wife and mother that I can be. Sadly, I feel I often fall short, but, that is what drives me to try and be better. I am passioanate about taking care of our home, making it a comfortable place to live and making warm healthy meals. I am passionate about doing my best at work as well.
But, it all comes down to Christ. Christ needs to be the center in order for any of this to work well and in the long term. I need to have a strong, unabated passion for my Lord and Savior and I have let the day to day get in the way of that. Christ has not been the ceneter of my world and I am realizing that it is him that I most want to be passionate about, yet find him to be the hardest thing at times to be passionate about. Why is that? I almost feel like a failure to say it, but, in my heart it is true at this moment. I need to spend more time with him in prayer plane and simple.
I am really excited about how this excersize has made me think and realize that I need to get my passion and my focus back were it needs to be.
Let's keep talking about this and help encourage each other. I see a common theme from those of us that have responded so far. I am so grateful that God put this on Leslie's heart to do and share, he always knows what we need.
I just have to say that I am so blessed by this wonderful community of ladies that Christ has brought into my life. I had know idea when I started this blog, how much of a blessing it would be.

Mr. Gees

These pictures are from last weekend.
We took Elijah to a garden on the river.
It was lovely.

David calls Elijah Mr. Gees...we were thrilled to find "his" garden.

A topiary monkey.

He fell asleep on the way home.
Great memories.

A whirlwind of activity

Hello All...
I am floating on a cloud of accomplished bliss today.
Yesterday at work I got so many projects wrapped up.
Co-workers kept walking by and admiring the cleanliness of my desk.
It has been a busy two months, my desk was overflowing.
When I got home with the Little Boy my back was killing me
and all I wanted to do was to lay down.
So I did what women have done for years,
I took two tylenol and bucked up.
While Elijah ate his skillet lasagna and bread and butter,
I unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen,
and set five eggs to hard boil.
Little Man was stripped and put into his bath where we spent twenty minutes playing and singing. (His new favorite song is "Singing in the Rain, " I must rent the movie for him to see)
He was then dressed, lotioned and brushed.
During his bath I realized the poor state of things in the bathroom and decided to clean it.
While I did so Elijah played with a small green bucket and was facinated by the broom.
Then things snowballed from there...I proceeded to...
clean the master bath,
put Elijah to bed,
clean-out, organize and wipe down the inside of my car,
wash a load of clothes and then a load of towels,
mop the kitchen floor,
put a new table cloth of the dining room table,
do some bill filing,
All by 8:30 p.m.
I over did it. My back started to hurt again so I went to bed.
This morning I am a little achy.
I try to take advantage of those bursts of energy because with this pregnancy I am really tired by the end of the day and on weekends all I want to do is nothing.
But, I love a clean and organized house, it just doesn't always reflect that.
Tonight, chances are likely that I will crash as soon as dinner is done.
But, dispite the tiredness, I love the feeling of completion and accomplishment.

The Downs and Ups.

Kind of cranky today...
Back hurts,
Miss my boys (But, I'll see them at home),
I'm not sure where this week went.
I feel like somehow I missed it.
Just full and busy.

I am happy about...
It's friday,
The weather is going to be in the 60's tomorrow,
The show Top Chef is enjoyable,
I get to see my sweet boys in a couple hours,
Despite the cranky, things are pretty good... :)

Drum roll please...

Please forgive the delay...
But, I am please to announce that David and I are expecting another baby!
We are due in September and thrilled!
I am feeling well and enjoying my cravings this time around for leafy green salads and hard boiled eggs (with Elijah it was Twinkies).
Life is happy and well!
